Appian Way Residence
Winner of the "Best Custom Home" Category of the SEBC 2016 Aurora Awards. This residence is a perfect example of close collaboration between architect, builder and client, to define every space and material used to create a contemporary yet casual environment and maximize the views of the lush fairways of the adjacent golf course. The home's sleek, linear exterior was achieved through the design of a multi-tiered formal entry and planters, angular rooflines, glass paneled metal railings and walls wrapped with warm wood, neutral stone and smooth stucco finishes. The simplified lines of the open lanais, terraces and pool were designed in keeping with the overall exterior. The relaxed palette of warm woods, glass, metal and neutral tones are repeated throughout the airy interior of the home, which features expansive views of the outdoors from every main room. Automated shades, lighting, A/V, security and climate settings are all controlled from one centrally located touchpad. The custom designed interiors were achieved in each room by selecting one or two key design features based on each family member’s interests and by strategically displaying the owner’s collection of colorful mid-century furniture pieces. A modern floating wood and glass staircase, sleek gourmet kitchen and not one but two master suites are among the home’s unique attributes.
