JIM FISHER

SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER, COMMERCIAL

We sat down with Jim for a snapshot of what he does on a day to day basis, the why behind his passion for architecture, and a little bit of fun along the way.

Q: What does a typical day look like for you?

A: It varies every day and can include anything from developing design concepts, resolving the owner’s program requirements, zoning and code research, developing building details, or formatting drawings.

Q: What do you most like about your job?

A: I like working with the entire Owner-Design-Consultant team to develop creative project solutions that satisfies, and even goes beyond, the Owner’s needs in a way that enhances the built environment so that everyone who contributes – including builders – can be proud of the effort. I like the experience of ideas in the mind becoming physical reality through the process of drawing/modeling, and then interacting with people over time.

Q: What is your favorite project to date?

A: I have been very fortunate to be able to design unique custom elements (down to the minute details) in almost every project I have worked on which is very satisfying to me – so I have a lot of favorites…

Q: What is your favorite architectural style?

A: I don’t have a favorite style. I would rather think of designs as unique solutions to individual program requirements, site conditions and concepts that influence the final form that facilitate a positive interaction with the people that inhabit the spaces.

Q: What do you do in your spare time?

A: I produce artwork for my enjoyment of the process…and I also play the guitar.

Q: What is your favorite quote?

A: A quote from my 5 year old granddaughter when she told me, “I am all jacked-up on Unicorns”, we should all be so lucky…
