ANNOUNCEMENT
Design Styles Architecture has received the U.S. Green Building Council – Florida Gulf Coast Chapter’s “Outstanding Project of the Year” Award for the Design Styles Architecture Headquarters located in Ybor City, Tampa Florida. The project was recognized for achieving both a LEED Gold Certification as well as an Historic Property designation.
Narrative of the Project’s Goals: “The goal of this project was to restore and preserve a historically significant building while embracing the principles of sustainable design. In the case of this project the architect is the owner, client, and intended user, so it was important that both of these highly concentrated efforts worked in tandem to achieve the best results as a representation of the company’s principles. Extensive effort went into restoring the major historic characteristics of the original building to a standard set by the City of Tampa. Equal effort went into practicing environmentally conscientious design to create an exciting place for the users to work, and create an inspirational and educational place for the community. As a result of this effort, not only did the building achieve a historic property status, it also attained LEED recognition though energy efficiency, water efficiency, and truly holistic design approach.”
