JERRYLYN EDWARDS
SENIOR DESIGN ASSOCIATE, DSA
We sat down with Jerrylyn for a snapshot of what she does on a day to day basis, the why behind her passion for architecture, and a little bit of fun along the way.
Q: What does a typical day look like for you?
A: I spend my days doing a multitude of things. This can include collaborating with my team, meeting with clients and consultants, providing feedback and ideas to help facilitate projects, and meeting project deadlines and budgets.
Q: What do you most like about your job?
A: Having the ability to create a built environment that meets the needs of our clients through expression of design is gratifying. Seeing the appreciation and satisfaction that clients express after completing a project is very rewarding.
Q: What is your favorite project to date?
A: Designing the Key West Bight Ferry Terminal was one of my first projects after graduating from UF. I worked closely with the City of Key West and alongside Emergency Management to create a new hurricane evacuation route. I was honored to be involved with my community by assuring their safety through means of design.
Q: What is your favorite architectural style?
A: Sustaining the Historical/Traditional is important to me, however I love Modern Architecture.
Q: What do you do in your spare time?
A: Spend time with family, friends, and dogs, but mostly shopping and exploring new restaurants with my daughter. I also enjoy restoring antiques and vintage furniture.
Q: What is your favorite quote?
A: “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.” – Ecclesiates 9:10
