A Chat With...Alex Bothos

Alex Bothos Senior Design Associate

We sat down with Alex for a snapshot of what he does on a day to day basis, the why behind his passion for interiors, and a little bit of fun along the way.

Q: What does a typical day look like for you?

A: Every day is different because of the various projects we are constantly working on. It could range from doing schematic design on one, developing interior materials and finishes for another project, or going out to a project that is being constructed to supervise the design.

Q: What do you most like about your job?

A: I love my job because it’s not what I do, but what I am: a creative spirit who is always looking for new expressions of art. I am always interested in designing spaces that convey a strong emotional presence that will affect people that occupy them. I also deeply appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with others and watch our projects come to life.

Q: What is your favorite project to date?

A: Bar Codes Talk Headquarters. This project took a very strong conceptual idea regarding what the company represented and expressed it throughout all aspects of their new building. The design not only functioned efficiently as both an office and production facility, but also conveyed the spirit of this exciting business through the layout of the spaces, materials, and colors used throughout.

Q: What is your favorite architectural style?

A: Modernism that incorporates aspects of regionalism and culture in the design.

Q: What do you do in your spare time?

A: I like to golf, paint, sculpt, read, and I also do a little photography as well.

Q: What is your favorite quote?

A: “No one ever discovered anything new by coloring inside the lines” – Thomas Vasquez
