The University of Tampa has released a rendering, created by Design Styles Architecture, of the new Palm Apartments. Now under construction, the building’s first phase is scheduled to open in late January 2015 and house 209 students. This is the latest construction project on campus and is expected to maintain the site as the center of student life on campus. The Palm Apartments will replace the current ResCom dorm which is out dated and in need of repair. Since this is a phased project, the new seven-story building will juxtapose the existing three-story ResCom until the other portions of it are demolished and rebuilt.
The final design includes a number of features that make it a premier place to live on any college campus. The Palm apartments will maintain the legacy of ResCom as the most popular dorm on campus through its apartment style living, centralized location, and grand courtyard specifically design to encourage student interaction. In addition the dormitory will feature integrated study lounges and private study rooms on each floor, a smart-phone integrated laundry alert system, and will house more than 500 students.
